Key West
For three years in the late 1980’s, my son and I lived in Key West, Florida. The island had undergone a renaissance of sorts not long before we moved there, with many of the businesses and historic houses restored to their original splendor. We rented a two story house on Eaton Street, which was lined with historic homes, many of which were painted in pastel colors and accented with numerous types of palm trees, tropical flowers, and luscious plants. This painting represents the most charming characteristics of the homes on our street. Being in such beautiful surroundings, it was easy to understand why the island had been nicknamed “Paradise.”
